This weeks topic is songs you relate to books. I will be honest, I do not normally think of songs and books and them connecting, so it took a lot of brainstorming and thinking of old, new, and weird songs in order to make this list!
1.All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven — For Good from Wicked
Mainly how knowing each other made them both better for a short while. Also, this song is a mixture of sadness but also hope and I felt that a lot when I read this book a year or so ago.
2. Fifty Shades Trilogy by E.L. James — Sorry by Justin Bieber
This song is all over the radio and I think the line “missing more than just your body,” is why I thought of the Fifty Shades Trilogy. I am not going to try to say this series is romantic or anything, but the author made the point to show that Anastasia changed some things in Christian taking him away from just sexual intent to also having emotions.
3. Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson – If I Die Young by The Band Perry
I actually was unaware this was a novel until last year, so that is when I read it! Anyways, the song I chose is If I Die Young because of what happens in the book. I assume everyone reading this should have read the book or seen the movie! It is a beautiful, mournful but still light song so I think it fits perfectly.
4. Princess Bride — I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston
This is one of my favorite books and favorite movie adaptation. I will always love you made me think of Buttercup and Westley. More accurately it made me think of “As you wish!”
5. The Perks of Being a Wallflower — Shut Up and Dance by Walk The Moon
This song makes me think of Perks in how Sam treats Charlie and just sort of the overall carefree attitude of Sam and her friends.
I think I really do like the songs I chose, although I NEVER listen to songs while reading! This was actually a lot of fun!
